We are having problems getting a license installed on piaf proxmox openvz container. We made some changes and are in limbo, unable to revoke the or register the license.

I think your problem is already fixed, right? Just as a reminder and to help other users. Whenever you plan to change your installation, your hardware, even moving a virtual node from hosts, you should first revoke the fop2 license so you can reapply the license after your changes:
/usr/local/fop2/fop2_server --revoke
