thanks for the reply. I managed to get past this problem by installing libssl0.9.8.
Just trying to test a new installation and there seems to be some unresolved dependencies. First it was trying to use perl 5.8 whereas my system has 5.14. I added a symlink 5.8 -> 5.14. Next it wanted libcrypto.so.0.9.8 by my system has libcrypto.so.1.0.0 , so I added another symlink. Now it wants OPENSSL_0.9.8. I'm not sure how to link to the version of openssl on my system.
Is there a configuration step that I missed along the way?

Anyone using FOP2 on an android tablet? I understand from an earlier post that if the tablet browser supports flash or html5 websockets that FOP2 should work. I just wondering if anyone has any specific examples of working configurations.
